Benchmarking

AviaSolutions frequently works with financial institutions and infrastructure investors to provide analysis of current and projected commercial performance. Benchmarking is a useful starting point, and we have a wide range of data at our disposal to help assess performance trends and understand the specific local drivers of commercial revenue.

For example, we know that airports with a high proportion of international passengers are generally expected to outperform those with a domestic traffic bias. Our benchmarking data suggests that a ratio of 3.5:1 is typical, although understanding the reasons for this difference provides the added value for clients

Conversely, many observers would also expect to see a strong relationship between retail space per passenger and commercial yields. However this is not the case, and there are many reasons for this apparent anomaly – such as the timing in the development life cycle and balance between airside and landside space.
