Southampton Airport aircraft performance & network potential

In 2022, Avia Solutions was commissioned by Southampton Airport to model the potential performance improvements from a planned runway extension and changes to the obstacle environment.

Working with NAVBLUE, Airbus’ performance software division, we assessed payload range limits for A319 and A320 family aircraft under real world operating conditions and key target leisure and hub connectivity routes.

We also quantified network opportunities using detailed catchment analysis based on CAA market data, identifying material demand that could be retained from major London airports should A320neo operations be introduced.

Our insights provided quantitative evidence to support airline engagement and investment decisions linked to the airport’s growth strategy.
